July 18, 2007 • Cooking: Lesson 1 • Scrambled Eggs 101

You hold the egg firmly and hit it HARD on the edge of the bowl. See! No shells in the part we eat.

We pour the eggs, whites and yolks, into the clean plastic jar with screw tight lid!
And we shake the jar. And shake. and shake. Then Stir and stir and stir.

And that's how you cook scrambled eggs for boy and dog.
P. S. Bacon bits and cheese are good to add.
CHOPSTIX & THINGS they make in school. August isWater Month. Strung on D5's bike are the JellyFish with tentacle streamers, Seahorse and bright orange Crab with pinchers. Each Thursday in August the teacher and aid change all the kids into swimsuits and do outside waterplay - THEN change them all back into dry clothes for the ride home. I commend the effort! The jelyfish is a coffee filter with water paints and streamers and stick on eyes. • Yes, we use "training wheels" or cheaters for chopsticks.

First Day of School after break, July 23, 2007. He brought his penny whistle for Show & Tell.
Handsome lad. All of the sudden he looks "seven".

"THAT'S SO FUNNY!" After school. Snack on the porch and he talks and talks.
He talks about school. He talks about funny things he remembers. He tells stories.
This time it was a funny monkey video we watched on youtube three or four days ago. He likes to tell stories, being his charming, engaging self. Then it's off to tear it up on his bike. Time, perhaps, for dirt hills to challenge his bike riding skills.
