June 2 - 6, 2006
With Don3 on yet another extended bit of travel (thank goodness), we decided to load up Tater the Wonder dog, fast becoming our own Rin-Tin-Tin, into the camper van and head off over the Sierra to the glorious and historic Coloma River Valley. First stop Auntie Joan and Uncle Johnny's in Pilot Hill. Rural, secluded, with acres and acres for a boy and dog to explore. Then a nice long bath from Aunt Joanie to reclaim the boy under all the dirt.

Boy and dog did some heavy bonding. Both learned... "Get your dog." "Where's your boy?"
Then on to Aunt Laurel and Uncle Jimmy. Uncle Jimmy owns a bunch of heavy equiptment - so boy was saying "SCOOP, Scoop, Scoop!" excitedly for days. Scoop being the digger machine on "Bob the Builder".
Boys and toys and dirt. It's a natural combination.
The rule was "No Scoop without Uncle Jimmy" so the call became, "Where Jimmy?" :) Tater even got into the act. Folowing a safe distance along. Always watching "his boy". That's the camper van between Donnie and Scoop. And some instructions to Tater...
We also paid several visits to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. It was a very short walk from Laurel and Jim's up the quiet road to this wonderful place along the river. Donnie enjoyed the "touch everything"display at the working blacksmith shop.
